A touch of the color
A 35-year-old deputy police inspector at Lop Buri’s Tha Hin police station was reportedly involved in the theft of a gold stone from a store in the Big C hypermarket on Chaeng Watthana Road. The piece is said to be worth THB4.9 million.
The accused officer, Pol Capt Pongphop Pinchanbua was arrested at his house. He not only resisted arrest but also allegedly threatened the officers that raided his house with a pistol.
Deputy Provincial Police Region 1 commander Pol Maj Gen Methi Kusonsang said, however, that the arresting officers were able to calm the suspect and negotiate him into surrender.
The policeman was said to have fled from the scene in a pick-up truck that was later traced to his girlfriend, the Bangkok Post reported.
