Police uncover THB2 million, 5 locked safety deposit boxes after drug dealer’s death

Six safety deposit boxes, one with over THB2 million, were seized Wednesday following the death of a drug dealer.

Waritnon Roengkamol, 35, was killed in a Tuesday night shootout with police in Pathum Thani’s Lam Luk Ka district.

The following day police raided Waritnon’s condo and found THB2 million cash in an unlocked deposit box. The remaining 5 boxes are locked.

Police said they try busting open the locked boxes. They are believed contain money and drugs. Police also retrieved at least 100,000 methamphetamine pills scattered throughout the dealer’s home.

The secretary –general of the Narcotics Control Board, Pongsapat Pongcharoen, said that Waritnon was a major drug trafficker who owned 8 luxury vehicles and possessed THB7 million in bank accounts.

The Narcotics Suppress Bureau (NSB) reports that Waritnon smuggled drugs 7 times in the past month and 21 times in his career, the Bangkok Post reported.
