Authorities are currently investigating whether or not a bomb caused Sunday’s explosion at Ramkhamhaeng Soi 43/1. The blast occurred last Sunday night and injured seven people, according to reports from the Bangkok Post.
Chief of Hua Mark police station, Pol Col Narongrit Promsawat, announced that the forensic police are currently investigating the blast scene. He denied claims from earlier media reports that a man had been arrested in connection with the bombing.
The explosion was likely caused by an improvised explosive device (IED). Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Kamronwit Thoopkrachang believes that the bomber had not intended to kill anyone. However, the device was placed in a plastic bag packed with nails and flash powder, which exacerbated its harmful effects.
