Police seek means to end clever drunk driving scheme

Some would see it as a creative, market-driven solution. To police, the taxi drivers who lurk near police checkpoints to ferry drunks through are criminal accessories.

Metropolitan police officials are looking into a means of punishing these alcoholic angels, who take about THB300 to get behind the wheel of drunk motorists’ cars as they pass through sobriety checkpoints.

Once through, they return the keys to the intoxicated drivers and walk back to their cabs to repeat the process.
