American police are searching for two Canadian expats wanted in connection with the largest international penny stock fraud in history.
Sandy Winick, 55, and Greg Curry, 63, are suspected of of swindling investors in 35 countries out of USD140 million.
Both men were last known to be living in Bangkok.
Police say the men, along with seven other American and Canadian accomplices, inflated the price of worthless penny stocks before dumping the shares on unsuspecting investors.
Seven of the nine suspects have been arrested and are facing indictment, but Winick and Curry remain on the run. If convicted the scammers face up to 20 years in prison for each count of conspiracy, wire fraud, securities fraud, and impersonating an IRS agent, the Bangkok Post reported.
