Police are looking for two men after CCTV captured one of them breaking into a local souvenir shop and stealing more than B20,000 worth of jewelry and cash.
Wittaya Sriularawat, 32, the manager of the Baba’s souvenir store, located on the spur road from Phuket International Airport to Thepkrasattri Road, reported the robbery after he arrived for work at 8am yesterday.
“The shop opened about a year ago and this morning I came to open the shop as usual when I found the window slightly opened, so I went inside to check,” Wittaya said.
“I called police right away after I discovered several items were missing,” he said.
Among the items stolen were several pearl necklaces, earrings, rings and other jewelry, along with some cash, Wittaya reported.
Capt. Suporn Muangkhai, of the Thalang Police, soon arrived with fellow officers to find a window at the back of the shop had been forced open.
Suporn added that the shop’s security CCTV footage showed two suspects arrived at the shop on a motorbike at about 4am.

“One of them sat outside keeping watch while the other broke into the shop via the back window,” he explained.
“Luckily CCTV footage captured images the suspects and we collected some fingerprints from the scene. Hopefully we’ll find them soon,” he added.
