A Samut Prakarn man has been arrested for allegedly abducting his teenage girlfriend and beating her with a wooden baton for a week because he was jealous.
One week ago, the 14-year-old girl’s mother notified police her daughter was missing. The girl eventually was able to call the police and tell them she was being held by Apiwat Pukcharoen, 21, inside a public housing complex in the Bang Phli district, police Maj. Gen. Thatchai Hongthong said.
Officers raided the building and found the girl alone, with a number of injuries and much of her hair crudely shorn. She’d been held there since Feb. 24.
She said Apiwat, who she’d met online late last year, was angry because other men had talked to her in recent weeks.
She then arranged a meeting with him by phone at which point police took him into custody on charges of sexually assaulting a minor, kidnapping, unlawful detention and assault, Khaosod reported.
