Police arrest purse thieves disguised as messengers in Silom

Metropolitan police yesterday announced the arrest of two men who had allegedly robbed numerous office workers in the Silom area.

Twenty-three-year-old Anucha Phuduangvijit and 18-year-old Somjed Samsrinuan were accused of committing more than 20 snatchings. The pair said that they were disguised as messengers so as to confuse police, as Silom, one of Bangkok’s busiest areas, was full of people practicing this profession.

Auncha stated that he had worked as a messenger but quit more than one year ago. The pair is being held at the Yannawa police station for questioning. People who fell victim to Anucha and Somjed can check with the Yannawa station to claim their possessions, Dailynews reported.
