Police arrest knife-wielding automotive thief

Yesterday, police arrested a 22-year-old man in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district and charged him with stealing a female university student’s car.

The alleged thief, Patcharapol Chanpae, surrendered to police on Phahon Yothin Soi 48.

According to the victim, 23-year-old Chumpoonut Sapsin, Patcharapol forced his way into her car at a Lotus superstore on June 20, then held her at knifepoint until she drove him to Phahon Yothin road. Once on Phahon Yothin, Parcharapol demanded Chumpoonut get out of the car, after which he drove off.

The Bangkok Post reports that Parchrarpol got the idea for the robbery from a similar crime that had occurred at a Lotus superstore branch in Bang Kapi.
