A man thought to be the mastermind behind the failed robbery of a gun shop in Chinatown has been arrested.
Chinese national Yang Zheng, 30, was arrested in Nakhon Sawan province on a train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai late on Friday night, Khaosod English reported.
Police are questioning the suspect over the raid on Interarms Limited Partnership on Charoen Krung road.
A gang of Chinese robbers armed with BB guns and knives tried to rob the gun shop on Friday morning, but the shop owner and his employee fired on them in defence.
One of the robbers, Xingjun Wu, 39, was shot and died later in hospital. The owner and employee were also injured.
Police are investigating the motive behind the robbery, saying they hadn’t ruled out terrorism links, Thai PBS reported.
