The latest charity trend #IceBucketChallenge has been picked up by the realm of Thai social media this week because why not ask celebrities and billionaires to pour a full bucket of ice water over their heads?
Even though the rule states those who do the challenge don’t have to donate, several Thai celebrities and big shot CEOs have gladly spared big baht to charities of their choice and showered themselves with ice cold water for fun.
Internet celebrity Surabot Leekpai or “Pleum VRZO,” who is also the son of a former prime minister, took the challenge yesterday. He dared three famous people by name to take the challenge: Madame Mod, Sorayuth “Icelord” Suthassanachinda and Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha. The clock is ticking.
Top lakorn actress Araya “Chompoo” Hargate also participated in a 10-second Instagram post.
Besides celebrities, some business titans also took the challenge and made generous donations to different causes.
True Corp. CEO Suphachai Chearavanont
AIS CEO Somchai Lertsutiwong
DTAC CEO Jon Eddy Abdullah
Ichitan CEO Tan Passakornnatee
Last but not least, Chatchart Sitthipant, the former transport minister of meme legend, took the challenge in his famous outfit. He made a donation to the Than Tao Mahaprom Foundation of Erawan Hotel and forwarded the challenge to U.S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney.
