Dance master Pichet Klunchun will address the truth behind the movements of Thai classical dance at an international symposium featuring regional artists and academics tomorrow through Sunday at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.
An opportunity to hear some of top thinkers on dance and performance discuss and present their ideas in English, the “International Symposium Contemporary Theatre and Performance in ASEAN: Trends and Development” is also a chance to see them perform.
The event will also be translated into Thai.
Pichet, something of a subversive for his contemporization of traditional Thai dance, will perform with his dance troupe. Other performances include Indonesian dance artist Eko Supriyanto and Thammasat students performing “Playing on the Zero Line,” which addresses notions of social equality through physical theater.
Other speakers include regional experts on dance and performance in Japan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
Entry is free. Check out the schedule and make reservations online.
