Phuket Airport’s new domestic terminal has 22 check-in counters to negate long waits when Bangkokians are trying to rush back to the city after a long weekend.

Airport Director Petch Chancharoen, gave the first tour of the newly refurbished domestic terminal yesterday ahead of it welcoming its first flights on Nov. 28.

Phase one of the two-phase renovation was completed just in time to accommodate increased passenger traffic during the high season, which has already begun and will continue until March.

Phase two, in the north of the airport, should be renovated by June of next year.

“The new domestic passenger terminal will accommodate both inbound and outbound passengers, and passengers will be comfortable with the space of the new check-in hall which now has 22 check-in counters,” he said.

Passengers can also now enter the domestic terminal using the entrance from Highway 4031, outbound passengers can check-in on the second floor, and arrivals can be welcomed on the first floor. There is also upgraded car parking at the front the domestic passenger terminal and new in-line security scanners to make security measures better and faster.
