Phuket airport employee caught stealing Adidas shoes from luggage

An airport employee was charged with theft over stealing a pair of Adidas women’s sneakers from a passenger’s bag at Phuket International Airport on Wednesday.

Danai Buthjaw, 27, was arrested after being found with a pair of pink sneakers belonging to a passenger who had arrived at the airport on AirAsia flight FD3007 from Don Mueang.

The stolen trainers were found in a plastic bag, hidden in the back of a baggage pick-up truck of Triple i Asia Cargo Co. Ltd. who operate at the airport.

The company’s station master Prapaporn Yodyoy found the shoes and suspected they had been removed from luggage from the Don Mueang flight.

Danai, a logistics company employee at the airport, had been responsible for unloading bags from that flight.

He was quizzed by police and admitted to stealing the shoes but said he had planned to “return them after his shift at work.”

Police said it was possible Danai had stolen the shoes and intended to sell them to get a bit of extra cash, and that this might not have been his first theft.

Danai was taken to Tha Chatchai Police Station and charged with theft.
