The one-kilometer-long connecting tracks between the MRT Blue and Purple lines is set to open on Aug. 11 to fix the “missing link” that should never have existed in the first place.
Last night Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand released the first photos of the connecting tracks, which are currently being tested for safety. When launched, commuters will no longer have to take the free shuttle buses or diesel trains from Bang Sue to connect to Taopoon station on the Purple Line, Thairath reported.
The Purple Line officially opened on Aug. 6, 2016. It travels north to Nonthaburi and serves about 20,000 passengers daily.
The number of passengers is expected to jump 15-20 percent when it’s finally connected with the Blue Line.
