PE teacher denies throwing mug at student, claims he aimed at window

The PE teacher in Nakhon Ratchasima who was accused of throwing a mug at a student, which led to a nerve damage in her face, is now being charged with aggravated assault — a charge which he has denied.

Paitoon Klaengkrathok, 58-year-old teacher at Chokchai Samakkee School, said he did not intend to hit the student’s face. He only threw a mug at the window, but the ceramic cup bounced and hit his student, Narudee Jodsanthia, in the face, according the committee appointed to investigate the teacher.

Paitoon avoided the reporters who waited for him at Boonwatthana School when he came to meet with the investigating committee.

Chief of Nakhon Ratchasima Police Pol.Maj.Gen.Takul Nattheesri said that Paitoon will be fighting the charges in court. The evidence for this case is still being gathered as of now, but they expect to submit the case to the prosecutor within seven days.

If the teacher is deemed guilty, he will be facing a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and/ or a fine of THB20,000, reported Thairath.
