While Pattaya taxi drivers normally make headlines for their violence and quarrels with Uber drivers, this cabbie has just brought the reputation of her community to a new light.

A Pattaya taxi driver yesterday returned a bag containing US$3,100 cash (THB96,648), along with a passport and plane ticket, to a UAE tourist.

Cabbie Netnapa Boonmema, 54, said that she picked up two tourists from the Holiday Inn hotel in Central Pattaya. Since the two wanted to go to Suvarnabhumi Airport, she transferred them to another taxi driver, who was her friend, because Netnapa wasn’t familiar with the route to Bangkok, according to Daily News.

Somehow, as the tourists were catching a new taxi, they forgot a bag in the backseat, so Netnapa called up her friend, and brought the bag to Pattaya Police.

Police opened the bag and found US$3,100 cash, a passport, a plane ticket, and two iPhones.

The bag belonged to Al-sahuaibi Mohammed Sulaiman, 25, from Dubai. The tourist was so happy he hugged Netnapa and rewarded her with US$300 cash (THB9,355).
