Parents of a 9-month-old girl born with four legs and other serious medical problems have gone public with their plea for help Saturday after complaining of negligence on the part of the hospital which cared for the mother.
Father Nokpanan and mother Thantiwa said the first time they were aware of any issue with their daughter, I-tim, was when they first saw her. I-tim was born with four legs and two sets of reproductive organs.
They complain an unnamed hospital did not notify them of any issues despite multiple ultrasounds being conducted during the course of Thantiwa’s pregnancy. There are also several serious problems with I-tim’s internal organs.
The parents have sought help from the Paveena Foundation for Children, founded by former MP Paveena Hongsakula.
This is the first ever such case to be reported in Thailand and the seventh in the world, according to a Channel 3 news report. The parents claim the hospital should take some responsibility for the case because they did not inform them of I-tim’s situation. The doctor responsible for the case has discussed the situation with Paveena, reportedly informing her the ultrasounds showed no suggestion of the deformities.
Paveena is consulting with the hospital where the girl will undergo a series of surgeries.
