Phuket soldiers are asking for tips about live sex shows after an operation targeting Chinese tourists was raided and shut down in Patong last week.

Soldiers, led by Col. Santi Sakuntanark, the highest-ranking army officer stationed in Phuket, raided the Wake Up Club in Patong last Wednesday.

The club is on a backstreet behind Chinatown Plaza off Sai Nam Yen Road.

The raid started at 10pm. Inside the venue, officers found hundreds of international tourists in the audience, most of them Chinese.

On stage, Wanida Chamjai and Monton Jaraypanya, were performing a heterosexual pornographic live sex show. Both were arrested.

The show was still in its opening act since, at the time of the arrest, Wanida “was in a bikini, but exposing her breasts,” Col. Santi said.

Also arrested was club owner Sitthichai Changteang for providing a venue for a pornographic show and operating an entertainment venue without a license.

The show openly targeted Chinese tourists. “Tickets cost B2,500 per person, and there were many shows a day. The venue had about 200 seats.”

The club has an Instagram where several foreign couples are shown with their tickets to attend the show. While some reviews say the sex show isn’t worth the high price of admission, others said that the live sex performance was “Fun and gross at the same time. Once is enough.”

With its own website now disabled, the club is promoted on Chinese-language websites. One website promoted the main event as the “Tianhuang Show,” Tianhuang means “Emperor.” in Chinese.

The same website implied that these shows could also be enjoyed at the venue:

Wanida along with Monton and Sitthichai were handed over to the Patong Police. “All of them were taken to Patong Police Station for questioning. Right now, they are being investigated by the Patong Police. We might soon learn of a nominee behind the operation,” Col Santi said.

He declined to answer whether Patong Police admitted they knew about the sex show or why no action had been taken to shut it down previously.

Asked about any upcoming action against other sex shows in Phuket, Col Santi said, “I don’t know. That we will have to find out.”

No word yet on whether Wanida and Monton will be asked to re-enact their crime for the police.
