Pad Thai Doodle: Google celebrates signature Thai dish with cute illustrations

Pad Thai is definitely the world’s favorite dish when it comes to Thai cuisine. Today Google Doodle celebrates the signature Thai noodles with an illustration of cute characters cooking Pad Thai.

The Doodle, which reaches not only Thailand, but several countries in North America, Europe, South America, and also Australia, was inspired by a Google employee only identified as “Juliana.” Obviously, Juliana cooked up Pad Thai with a friend and wanted to draw a Doodle of the delicious dish.

For a second, we thought there was an international Pad Thai day we didn’t know about.

“Her [Juliana’s] lovely creation celebrates the process of cooking this unique dish and eating it with friends — warm, colorful, messy, social, and wonderfully Thai,” according to Google.

Google also published a brief history of Pad Thai and a recipe.

“Soak rice noodles in water for a few hours. Fry some eggs with tofu. Throw in lots of vegetables. Toss everything around in a sauce of tamarind, fish, and shrimp. Top it all off with roasted peanuts. Stick a fork in, make it messy, and slurp it all up!”

Kudos to Juliana — her Doodle features Pad Thai with prawns, which is how Pad Thai is most often cooked in Thailand. We’ll leave chicken Pad Thai to the Pad Farang lady to make.
