Overstretched govt shelter needs help keeping 1,600 dogs warm, fed

A government kennel in Buriram province is overwhelmed by dogs and asking for help keeping them warm.

As temperatures drop, a government agency tasked with caring for animals rescued from the dog meat trade and other criminal enterprise are asking for donations of things like old clothes, blankets, towels and matresses to help keep the animals warm. Livestock development official Photpirat Niamjuiand said they’d also welcome dog food, as supplies are low, according to The Nation.

About 1,600 dogs are being cared for that were seized from drug smugglers.

If you’ve got something to ship or deliver, the address is as follows:

Buriram Animal Quarantine Station
1 Moo 18, Hu Thamnop subdistrict, Pa Kham district, Buriram 31200
