Construction: a growth industry
More than 6,000 new businesses have been registered during the month of May 2013, according to reports from the Ministry of Commerce. This coincided with a simultaneous decrease in the amount of de-registrations.
According to Nattawut Saikua, the Deputy Commerce Minister, during the month of May, more than 6,000 new businesses were registered, a 26% increase compared to the same period last year. The total valued capital of these news businesses was estimated at THB19.8 billion. The deputy minister also revealed that most of the businesses that registered last month were from the recreational services, construction and real estate sectors.
As for the number of business closures, these only amounted to 827 for the month. This is a 13% decrease compared to the previous year.
