Only in Thailand: Glitch knocks LINE app offline

Mobile call centers had to respond to angry smart phone users this morning regarding the malfunction of Line, the popular Japanese chat app. Line users reported their messages failed to send, but this time it actually wasn’t the fault of Thai service providers. Line’s PR team revealed it was the popular application was offline in Thailand due to a technical glitch on their end.

From 9:30am to 10:30am today, Line was making improvements which unexpectedly caused the program to stop working on smart phones region-tagged to Thailand, according to the statement. Line reps claimed this was the first time the application went down as users in other countries could still send stickers and messages normally this morning, Thairath reported.

Thailand currently has 18 million Line users
, more than any country except Japan, and with the sticker wars we have each day, those pointless conversations consisting of nothing but stickers, maybe the interruption was a message saying: Let’s speak face to face!
