Olympic badminton player apologizes for attack

The fight that set tongues wagging yesterday between Thai international badminton players seems to have cooled by today. As the attacker, Art, has issued an apology-video taking fault for the heated brawl – but not without pointing his finger back at his former partner.

Bodin “Art” Issara claims that his anger couldn’t be controlled after Maneepong “A” Jongjit hit him hard with a racket, blooding his right ear. The athlete issued the following statement, “I’m Bodin Issara. I apologize for the incident that has occurred. It was because I was hit in the ear by a racket, [so hard that] it bled and was ripped.”

“This resulted in me losing my temper. I apologize to all Thai people for bringing disgrace on the country. I take all the blame and I would like this issue to end here. Thank you,”

In his interview Art said that A provoked the fight by nagging with his former partner until a referee issued a warning.

We reported yesterday on the altercation that broke during a competition in Vancouver, Canada.

After playing together in the 2012 Olympics, it seems that the relationship has grown cold, as both Art and A have not spoken since January at the Badminton Association of Thailand, the Bangkok Post reported
