Police rescued a routinely abused dog from a Suphanburi man accused of hanging it, beating it and splashing it with water several times a day.
At the request from Watchdog Thailand, police investigated a residence in the province’s Ban Pho Tha Sai village. The owner, whose name was withheld, said his dog had been disturbing the neighbors, and he only tied it up with a rope.

Witnesses described daily torture of the animal however, so police seized the animal under Article 25 of the animal code, which allows authorities to remove an animal from someone who cannot control or care for it properly. The dog is now in the care of local volunteers and will be sent to veterinarians for a medical check-up.
Police have yet to file charges as they said they are still gathering evidence and questioning witnesses.
