The National Broadcasting Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) demanded giant mobile operator DTAC to come up with more compensation to customers who received THB461 trillion in phone bills due to a system malfunction.
Last week, several users of DTAC had their phone numbers suspended because the system somehow flagged that they owed THB461 trillion (or about US$14.1 trillion) to the company.
DTAC later announced it would give out free 500MB internet and free 50-minute calls to all affected customers, but NBTC secretary-general Takorn Tantasith said at their meeting yesterday that the freebies were not enough, Thai PBS reported.
“This overcharge of trillions of baht was unacceptable,” Takorn said yesterday.
He demanded DTAC submit a written explanation of the system malfunction and how they would compensate customers by Friday.
In the latest development, DTAC decided to increase the compensation to free 100 minute calls and free internet of 1GB.
