The Director-General of the Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, Thanya Nethithammakul, led a team to Maya Bay, which is inside  Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park. The department has already ordered a temporary closure of Maya Bay from June to September of this year, in order to allow the marine ecological system to revive after having been adversely affected by tourism but more must be done, reported NNT.

Officials and architects also visited nearby Loh Samah Bay, where a pier will be built to prevent beach docking. Buoys will also be installed to prevent boats from docking on beach areas, since some coral has been damaged by anchors.
