A park official at Phi Phi Islands National Park is facing fraud charges since being reported for reselling used park tickets to tourists and pocketing the money.

The park’s Chief Security Officer, Theerayut Boonlert, filed the charge with Ao Nang Police after receiving a report from a boat driver who had seen the unnamed park official sell the used tickets to four farang visitors to the tune of THB400 each.

Ao Nang investigator Pol. Lt. Songpol Boonchai confirmed that the official was charged, arrested, and had confessed to fraud, reported Bangkok Post.

Ao Nang Sub-district Headman Teerasak Khanantai, said that park officials had been pulling the used ticket scam for a long time and he had reported it to the police before, but park officials simply denied his report and no action was taken against them.
