If you’ve made a pit stop along the Thai highway at souvenir shops, it’s likely that you have tasted khao lam, a popular rice dessert cooked and served in a tube of bamboo.

Facebook user Kondee Riyapan shared photos of his khao lam on Saturday, but instead of toppings such as coconut cream or red beans, he found a scorpion stuffed in the delicious rice.

The user said he bought the khao lam during the annual Buddhist merit-making festival in his hometown of Nakhon Sri Thammarat, and shared it as a warning for people to be more careful when selecting which shop they should buy food from, Morning News reported.

As khao lam is a very popular dessert among locals, the photos made it to national television programs and local news websites.
