In news to elicit cheers from the laboring underclass (like us), the Thai government this afternoon has just declared another national holiday in December.

In the latest example of their munificence, the cabinet approved one extra New Year’s holiday. The official end-of-year-holiday stretch now begins Dec. 30 and ends January 1, which means being able to take a long, five-day weekend. Unless you work on weekends, as many do.
