Nok Air will cut 60 flights a day for rest of March

Nok Air is cutting 60 flights a day for the rest of the month due to a pilot shortage.

The airline, which has seen its reputation plunge after weeks of flight cancellations affecting thousands of passengers, has been forced to cut back on flights because it has been unable to recruit more pilots to make up for the shortfall, Bangkok Post reported.

Passengers should not be affected by the new cancellations as some of the canceled flights had no bookings, while those booked on the canceled flights can fly on other Nok Air flights, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) said.

Nok Air will also transfer passengers booked on those canceled flights to other airlines.

“Nok Air must be responsible for securing other flights or redeeming tickets for their passengers,” CAAT director Chula Sukmanop told the Bangkok Post.

Meanwhile Nok Air CEO Patee Sarasin tweeted today: “Our flights operate as normal thank you very much. Have a good day.”
