No Thais reported hurt so far in deadly Jakarta attack

No Thais have been reported hurt in the deadly Jakarta bombings, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.

At least six people were reported to have been killed in the Indonesian capital this morning, in a gun and bomb attack by militants.

Media reports said six bombs had gone off, following a threat by Islamic State fighters to put the country in their “spotlight,” police said.

One blast took place in a Starbucks cafe. Hundreds of security officers including police snipers have been deployed, with a bomb disposal unit entering the building housing the Starbucks.

The Tweet by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “Regarding the explosion in Jakarta, no Thais were reportedly injured or killed.

“Thai citizens are encouraged to avoid the aforementioned area.”

Indonesian police have shot dead four suspected militants and said the area was being secured.
