In a move that affects only a handful of people but serves as a warning to others, the ruling junta has revoked free flights for board members of struggling state carrier Thai Airways.
Eyeing the perks and premiums enjoyed by state enterprises, officials fired a first shot yesterday by terminating the perk enjoyed by the 16-member body, saying it was to help cut costs, Bangkok Post and MThai reported.
The airline has been in a tailspin for some time, losing billions of baht quarterly.
All THAI board members, together, with each of their family members, previously could receive 10 free round-trip domestic tickets and 10 international trips every year — all in business class.
