Authorities have not yet filed charges against a popular Thai singer/actor, who crashed his car into a garbage truck and injured two, according to the police.
Pol. Col. Jaturon Anurakbanthit, the superintendent of the Nonthaburi Police Station, said that singer Thanakrit “Wan” Panichwid, known as Wan Thanakrit, did not undergo an alcohol breath test at the scene of the accident because he needed to be sent for a medical examination to assess his injuries.
Wan Thanakrit, a singer and actor who appeared in multiple TV dramas and movies, was driving his Volvo at around 4am on Tuesday along Nonthaburi 13 road on the Tiwanon intersection in Bang Khen when he crashed into a garbage truck belonging to the Nonthaburi Municipality, injuring the two workers situated at the back.

The two victims are Wirat Chaiyapim, 34, and Chusak Fakkhiao, 57.
The police chief said Wan turned himself in on Tuesday evening. He was sent to Phra Nang Klao Hospital after questioning. Wan told police he felt fatigued and might have been drowsy while driving the car. CCTV footage shows the garbage truck was stationary as the black sedan runs right into it at considerable speed.
As of now, no charges have been filed against the celeb as authorities are awaiting the test results to determine if he was under the influence of substances and whether the injured parties suffered minor or serious injuries.
As for the injured individuals, one was sent to Phra Nangklao Hospital, and the other to Kasemrad Hospital. Their current conditions are not yet known, but initial examinations have reportedly shown only minor injuries.
The police were reportedly initially going to conduct an alcohol test on Wan at the station before the medical team advised that Wan should be checked at home instead, which delayed the test. It’s also worth noting that the incident occurred at 4am, but police arrived at the scene around 7am.
Wan said he would be held accountable for the harm he has caused. He may be charged with reckless driving that caused injury to others, which is punishable by up to one year in jail and fines of up to THB20,000.
