A THB2.575 trillion budget bill proposed by army and junta chief Gen. Prayuth Chanocha was immediately approved by the national assembly, which itself was appointed earlier this month by the junta.
After about six hours of debate over what were the most wonderful things about the plan, 183 members voted in support. There were three abstentions.
After being approved in principal, the budget bill will return for final approval next month.
On Thursday the unelected body is likely to name Gen. Prayuth prime minister.
