Nintendo teases ‘Mario Kart Tour’ racing to Bangkok

Nintendo hinted that Mario and his cohorts could soon be racing, drifting, and throwing shells around Bangkok in its mobile Mario Kart Tour game.

Official art published by the developer yesterday featuring the characters Toad and Princess Daisy, the latter in traditional Thai garb, cruising along a river in a wooden boat filled with bananas, pineapples, and oranges before a sunset backdrop and what looked to be Wat Arun.

“It’s a bit early, but here’s a sneak peek at the next tour in Mario Kart Tour!” Nintendo said. “We received a lovely photo from Daisy and Toad, who just arrived at the next destination. The race will heat up in a beautiful city with a sunset backdrop!”

Naturally, many Thais flooded Nintendo’s post to welcome the iconic characters to Thailand.

Of course, that did not stop gamers from needling Nintendo on when it would launch a Thai version of its online marketplace as well as others requesting their countries be featured.

Mario Kart Tour is the mobile version of the popular kart racing series. The game launched September 2019 via the Apple App Store and Google Play. It currently features real-life cities such as New York, Tokyo, Paris, London, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Berlin, Sydney, Singapore, and Amsterdam.
