Prime Minister Yingluck met with Bangkok governor Sukhumbhand today at the Department of Drainage and Sewage to discuss the worst flooding in Thailand in decades.
Yingluck asked the Sukhumbhand about drainage in east and west Bangkok during the meeting, TAN reported. She also pledged full support for the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority’s flood relief efforts.
The meeting got combative apparently when the Royal Irrigation Department refuted claims by the BMA that requests for water pumps had gone un-answered. Governor Sukhumbhand replied that the BMA hadn’t meant to criticize to criticize the Royal Irrigation Department but had submitted a request through the Flood Operations Relief Center.
At the meeting Science and Technology Minister Prodprasob Surasawadee said he believed that all districts in Bangkok will be flooded – Governor Sukhumbnhand said he remained confident that some parts of Bangkok could be protected.
