Prime Minister Yingluck said last night Oct. 25 that the worst case flooding scenario for inner Bangkok would result in waters up to 1.5 meters deep.
Yingluck said in the nationally televised speech that northern runoff had reached the capital and that the government was doing its best to divert the water to the east and west of the city, according to TAN.
Whether inner Bangkok floods depends on whether flood barriers hold, she said. If it did flood, water heights could range from 10cm to 1.5 meters. She also expressed concern about the rising sea tides this weekend that will affect riverside communities on the Chao Phraya.
Finally, she announced that the FROC’s donation center is moving to National Stadium so people don’t have to travel through flooding in Don Mueang to donate relief supplies.
