This weekend, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said that her government’s THB2.2 trillion infrastructure package could finance the construction of a new rail link between Thailand and Cambodia.
At present, a rail line exists between Sa Kaew’s Aranyapraphet and the Cambodian city of Poi Pet. However, this rail line has fallen into disuse over the years and is at present impassable.
During a stopover in Sa Kaew, Yingluck proposed revamping the rail line, as part of a wider plan to connect the 10 ASEAN countries via rail.
The Nation reports that after this rail network is complete, it will then be connected to China as well.
