Yellow Shirts march on Parliament

Yellow Shirt People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protestors began protesting today in Bangkok against a reconciliation bill that they said would pave the way for exiled former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to return to the country.

More than 3,500 people gathered at the Royal Plaza in central Bangkok before marching in the late afternoon to Parliament, Reuters reported.

The bill was proposed by the 2006 coup leader Gen Sondhi Boonyaratglin, now MP and leader of Matuphum Party.

During a rally held at the Royal Plaza May 30th, People’s Alliance for Democracy co-leader Sondhi Limthongkul announced from the rally stage that the PAD will continue with its protest until it achieves victory in its fight against the reconciliation bill, according to The Bangkok Post

The protesters used a truck early Wednesday to block the road near Dusit Zoo, The Nation reported, but they maintained they will not storm parliament.
