Yesterday, a 40-year-old single mother was arrested for allegedly dumping her newborn baby in a trashcan at Wat Bowonniwet Vihara.
According to Dailynews, Supee Chanklang, a cloth vendor, admitted to the Jan. 3 offense. She told police that she unexpectedly gave birth to an eight-month-old premature baby while taking a rest at her residence, located on the opposite side of the temple.
Following the delivery, the Prachinburi local cut off the baby’s umbilical cord and fell asleep from fatigue. Once Supee woke up, she discovered that her baby had passed away. Panic-stricken, she rushed to the temple to dispose of the body.
“The reason why I killed my own baby was that I really had no idea who the father was,” Supee said. “The reason why I dumped him in the temple trash bin was that I could think of nothing else. It was all my fault.”
