Woman outs unlawful apartment search on Facebook, netizens get angry

Going all glassy-eyed over the internet’s ability to usher in a utopian future smacks so heavily of hubris as to be unpalatable. However, in this aberrant case, the commentariat indeed seems to have risen to the cause of social justice.

A woman posted on Facebook earlier this week, complaining that a group of men claiming to be police tried to force their way into her apartment without a warrant. Some shocking CCTV footage helped to back up her claim and before she knew it, she had all but incited a digital riot.

The woman originally brought the forced entry to the attention of police officers at Wat Phraya Krai police station, but was told that the men about whom she had brought the complaint weren’t officers at that station. Furthermore, she was told that her complaint fell outside of that station’s jurisdiction and that she should take it elsewhere.

However, after the woman posted about the event, the very policeman who had ignored her earlier request called her back, asking for information about the case and for possession of the (potentially incriminating) CCTV footage.

No further information is available as of yet, but I still think we can post this one up as a tentative win for the online proletariat.
