Woman fired over brutal Bangkok bus beating

A female bus ticket vendor who attacked another woman in an incident last year that was filmed and uploaded to YouTube has been fired by the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority.

BMTA deputy chief Chatkaew Phothongnak said Monday March 5 that the row started because the BMTA employee didn’t have any change for the customer when she bought her ticket. The ticket vendor and the short-changed passenger got into a major argument then “took it outside” to the street outside the bus where the fight started.

“The BMTA received the complaint about a month ago, and the BMTA sees it as a serious case that should not have happened. I ask people to be confident that the BMTA does not have a policy to protect its employees who infringe on the privacy of passengers,” said Maj Chatkaew according to the Bangkok Post. The employee has been fired and is actually believed to be a nun, he added.

The incident, captured below, happened on the Route 187: Rangsit Klong 3 – Si Phraya Pier bus in September of last year.
