A Youtube video of a high ranking Thai customs officer assaulting an airport security employee at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport is bouncing around the internet like a beach ball at a Nickelback concert today Jan. 11.
In the video, embedded below, the angry officer bats the helpless security worker on the ears and repeatedly waves his badge as if to say, “Do you know who I am?” (The video has no sound.) The young security worker makes the wai gesture repeatedly throughout the ordeal to show deference to the senior official.
Nobody likes going through airport security, but this guy takes things to a whole new level.
Already there are over 6,158 “dislikes” of the video online and over 5,000 mostly outraged comments.
Customs Department director-general Somchai Poolsavasdi said that the official, identified only by his first name Sombat, has been transferred to an office job while they investigate his “distressing” behavior, the AP reported.
Stay classy Customs Department! Such a paragon of professionalism and integrity.
