University develops amphibious vehicle for use during floods

This Wednesday, students at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang unveiled a prototype vehicle for use during future, Bangkokian floods.

The vehicle, which looks an awful lot like a jet ski, has three wheels and is capable of moving at a rate of five to eight kilometers-per-hour against the tide of a flood.

Nicknamed the “Matchanu,” the vehicle’s production costs run roughly THB200,000. According to MCOT, the school has plans to produce the vehicle commercially.
