Today, tourism police arrested two male migrant workers for stealing a wallet from a tourist at the Victory Monument BTS Station on Jan. 29.
Boonme Sayawong, a 36-year-old Laotian national, and Chart Chakruen, a 33-year-old Cambodian native, admitted to their offense, saying that they had stolen cash and valuable items from several Thai and foreign tourists at major tourist destinations across the capital. Boonme and Chart told police that they made away with a combined total of over THB60,000 a day.
The pair will be handed over to the Phayathai Police Station and Immigration Police for further interrogation. According to FM91, police said that anyone who has fallen victim to the pickpockets should check with the Station in order to reclaim stolen items.
