TV tested over Thailand Parliament Porngate

Senior parliamentary officials have tested the television at the center of the Thailand Parliament porn scandal to find out how a graphic image of a naked woman appeared on a TV in the chamber.

They learned the LG TV is equipped with a Wi-Fi “dongle” that allows it to receive video clips and digital photos from Samsung mobile gadgets, but not the Apple iPhone or iPad.

The picture appeared three times and lasted five seconds each time.

Democrat MP Nat Bantadtan, who was photographed looking at a porn image on his phone the same time the infamous image appeared in the chamber, may have his wrist slapped by the Ombudsman for breach of discipline and ethical standards. Nat claims he wasn’t surfing the internet looking for porn but a friend sent him the image via Facebook to tease him.

“The journalist who took the picture must have known well that I didn’t look at the picture for a long time,” he told The Nation.

Nat’s party leader, Abhisit Vejjajiva, claims the Democratic Party will not hold an internal enquiry and it is up to the House Committee on parliamentary affairs.

In typical political style, Democrat MP for Narathiwat Jeh-aming Tohtayong said if Pheu Thai was demanding that Mr Nat resign from his post, a further probe should be conducted to see whether Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung was drunk during a parliamentary debate on the night of Feb 24, to avoid a double standard according to The Bangkok Post.

Outspoken Chuwit Kamolvisit, said he did not think the porn picture was the work of a hacker. He also claims there is a lot more ‘bad behavior’ within parliament.

Mr Chuwit believes the porn image is a minor offense compared to what actually goes on during parliamentary meetings.

“Some MPs sitting at the back of the chamber liked to put their legs up on the table, some were sleeping and snoring loudly and some even looked at illegal football betting forms as well as checking out local and foreign football score results” Mr Chuwit told The Bangkok Post.
