Traffic on Phahon Yothin worsening, despite promises to the contrary

The headline for this story could really be “Traffic on ______ _____ worsening, despite promises to the contrary,” but seeing as Phahon Yothin is one of the most egregious examples, it warrants special investigation.

Especially by the transit hub near the Mo Chit BTS station, outbound traffic on Phahon Yothin road has had a tendency to slow to the rate of a crawl.

Taxis, buses and motorcycle cabs clog traffic at this section of the street, forcing rush hour traffic to a rate sometimes slower than a walking pace.

The Bangkok Post reports that the real stinger to this story is the fact that last year, Transport Minister Chatchart Sittipan made the alleviation of traffic on Phahon Yothin a policy priority. However, despite allowing buses to pick up passengers in the second lane, and forcing vendors off of the street itself, rush hour traffic on Phahon Yothin continues to be some of Bangkok’s slowest.
