The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched an “Amazing Thailand” account on the popular chatting smartphone app LINE, that will deliver “ real-time information about the kingdom’s tourism activities and promotions.”
TAT has also launched a set of emoticon stickers featuring “Sukjai and friends” that can be downloaded until Dec. 26, and the account will be available for subscription in Thailand, as well as Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, Governor of the TAT, said that the expanded communication effort is part of the TAT’s strategy to make increased use of social media to engage with travellers worldwide.
Official LINE accounts are chatting profiles that businesses can set up that send messages to users who subscribe to them.
We can report that overzealous use of LINE accounts by corporations can become quite annoying… No one wants to get multiple SMS’s per day from an advertiser.
Still, they’re an interesting new social media marketing technique.
The account can be found by searching for “Amazing Thailand” or clicking on the “Official” button within the “Add Friends” section of the LINE app.
