Three Thai police officers implicated in rhino horn trade

Thai officials have implicated three police officers for their participation in the smuggling of rhino horn.

In a statement to the AFP, Narasak Hemnithi, commander of the Natural Resources Environmental Crime Division, said that the officers in question helped Vietnamese smugglers move rhino horn through Suvarnabhumi Airport. Smugglers would leave the rhino horn sitting in unattended baggage in locations throughout the airport where the police officers would then go, pick it up and move it to a secure location.

Narasak said that his organization had evidence, including CCTV footage, sufficient to convict the offenders.
